Colmar, France

Colmar (population 65,000) lies in the Alsace region of France--an area roughly 3,000 square miles (about the size of Delaware). Over the centuries (and quite a few wars) the region has ping-ponged back between German and France ownership. The medieval old town area of Colmar buzzes with tourists gawking at the picturesque canal ways and half-timbered houses. Colmar, unlike most others cities and towns in the region, managed to avoid destruction during World War ll.

Walked around the town again after dinner to catch diners filling up the restaurants.
